Manta Bridge

What is Mantabridge?

Manta Bridge is the canonical route from Ethereum Mainnet to Manta Pacific, an EVM network with chain ID 169, when the asset is supported and you want native settlement rather than a third-party route. Its OP Stack-style L1/L2 messaging model escrows deposits on Ethereum and credits the mapped balance on L2; withdrawals must be proven and finalized back on Ethereum. Manta Pacific–Manta Atlantic uses a separate Celer cBridge route, not this canonical path. The Manta Network site is the primary network reference.

How bridging works

Bridging is escrow plus message passing, not a swap: approve the token if needed, submit the L1 deposit, then wait for the bridge to escrow the L1 asset and credit the mapped balance on Manta Pacific. For withdrawals, initiate on L2, wait until the state is provable, prove it on Ethereum, pass the challenge window, then send the final completion transaction. Your wallet signs every step; the dashboard never sees private keys.

Depositing to the destination

Deposit from Ethereum when you already have ETH or an allowlisted ERC-20 token on mainnet and want it usable on Manta Pacific. Confirm source Ethereum, destination Manta Pacific/chain ID 169, approve only the needed amount where possible, and leave ETH on both sides: mainnet ETH for the deposit and Manta Pacific ETH for gas after arrival. Deposits usually settle within minutes; the practical check is the explorer and your L2 balance, not a spinner.

Withdrawing back

Withdrawals are multi-stage because initiation is quick but completion is not: after the L2 withdrawal transaction, the state must become provable, you prove it on Ethereum, the challenge period must pass, and only then finalization releases funds. That challenge-period model is the reason a withdrawal can remain pending after its first transaction. Check bridge history before treating an idle stage as failed or submitting a duplicate, and use the L2BEAT risk profile for current proving and upgrade assumptions.

Time and fees

Total cost is network gas on Ethereum and Manta Pacific; Manta documents no extra canonical-bridge fee beyond that. The heavier leg is usually Ethereum L1 execution—approvals, deposit, proof, and final completion—while Manta Pacific gas is paid in ETH on chain ID 169. Third-party routes may quote provider fees or slippage separately, so compare the full receive amount and steps, not just the gas estimate.

Is Manta Bridge safe?

Manta Bridge is non-custodial, but the route still depends on its bridge contracts, approvals, routing, upgrade controls, Manta Pacific's proposer, Ethereum settlement, Celestia data availability, and the domain you sign on. Third-party liquidity bridges can fill gaps for other assets or faster exits, but they add different contract and routing risk. Check each wallet prompt, use a limited approval when the interface allows it, and revoke stale approvals after large moves. Verify the exact domain, never sign a blind permit, and treat support DMs and lookalike bridge pages as hostile by default. Problems and fixes

Most delays come from a wrong network, no ETH for destination gas, a pending approval, or a withdrawal waiting for its next stage. Switch the wallet to the chain the app expects, fund Manta Pacific ETH before trying L2 transactions, and match the transaction hash on the correct explorer before assuming loss. Use bridge history to identify the current stage and the next required transaction.

How long does bridging take?

Deposits to Manta Pacific usually settle within minutes after Ethereum confirmation. Withdrawals take longer because they need L2 initiation, an Ethereum proof, the challenge period, and a final completion transaction.

How do I bridge to Manta Pacific?

Connect an EVM wallet in the bridge app, choose Ethereum to Manta Pacific, pick an allowlisted asset, then approve if required and submit the deposit. Keep ETH on Ethereum for the L1 transaction and ETH on Manta Pacific for gas after arrival.

Do I need ETH on Manta Pacific?
